Positronics provides PLC and HMI/SCADA programming for industrial automation projects requiring this type of control system.
A PLC provides a hardened way of controlling devices requiring simple on/off controls while also allowing for things like motion control and high speed interfaces such as triggering vision system on a fast conveyor line. Ethernet/IP and EtherCAT interfaces give PLCs the ability to extend their reach into many types devices and allow for much more tightly integrated systems.
Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems provide stand-alone human control of a system as well as the ability to interface with factory wide data systems. Positronics is focusing on the use of Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform which provides excellent tools for visualization, excellent capabilities for connecting with many devices and extensibility to do data collection. We also work with Allen Bradley’s Factory Talk HMI software for the Rockwell line of HMI products and have also created custom user interfaces with Visual Studio leveraging OPC Servers to bridge the gap from Windows to PLC.
